The Vinalhaven Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to support an application for an Island Fellow to assist in updating the town’s Comprehensive Plan, which expired last year.
Selectman Pam Alley moved the measure; the motion was seconded and approved 3–0–0. Gabe McPhail told the board a Community Action Grant could cover the first-year cost—about $14,000—and that the Planning Commission would serve as advisor to the position. The board discussed forming an advisory committee and possible assistance from Midcoast Council of Governments (MCOG).
The board directed staff to proceed with the application and to coordinate next steps with the Planning Commission and any advisory committee that is established.
