Pittsfield adopts six-month general and capital budgets; $200,000 set for Main Street improvements

The Pittsfield Town Council on Dec. 3 approved a six-month general fund budget and a capital-improvement budget that earmarks roughly $200,000 for an initial Main Street improvement project.

A resident asked what the Main Street allocation would cover; town staff said the funds are intended for pavement repairs, sidewalks and lighting and that related streets within a short walking distance — including portions of Stinson Street, Nicholls Street and segments near the MCI campus — may be considered as part of a comprehensive paving plan coordinated with water and sewer work.
Staff emphasized the capital budget covers a first step in a lengthy process rather than a finished design. The council noted that the adopted budgets cover Jan. 1 through June 30, 2025 and that a full fiscal-year process will follow for the 2025–26 budget year, which may change the tax cycle and lead to a spring tax bill change.
Councilors voted by roll call to adopt both ordinances. Natalia and other members recorded affirmative votes during the meeting.
