At the July 24 meeting of the Town of Acton Select Board, liaison reports and committee appointments highlighted ongoing municipal work and volunteer activity.
Tom McGurty reported municipal-finance scheduling, said the APAT open position application window closes next Wednesday, and noted a preliminary auditor engagement meeting scheduled for July 30. Ed Walsh described Transfer Station candidate interviews and ongoing Tri-town Trash Consortium contracting work, noting three companies had submitted pricing and a subcommittee is narrowing options. Daniel Norwood said he met with Fire Chief Ham and will raise departmental concerns with the board in the future; he also discussed Recreation Committee membership changes and a Conservation/Forest Committee candidate interview. Jon Denekamp reported planning-board activity and a recent cemetery cleanup on Goose Pond Road after volunteers found evidence of burials.
The board took two formal appointments: Tom McGurty moved to appoint Catherine Johnson to the Recreation Committee (term in transcript listed until June 30, 3025); Norwood seconded. The board also moved to appoint Wayne Burgett to the Forest Conservation Committee through the same transcript-listed date. Both motions were approved unanimously.
