Select Board accepts committee changes, approves NorthStar contract, signs lease and hires interim animal control officer

At its June 26 meeting, the Acton Select Board addressed several administrative items: it accepted resignations and role changes on the Warrant & Finance Committee, appointed members to multiple committees, approved a planning-services contract with North Star, authorized a new Pitney Bowes postage meter lease, and appointed an interim EMA Director.
Specifically, the board accepted Lee Robator’s resignation from an alternate seat on the Warrant & Finance Committee when Robator moved into a full-member role, and accepted Jon Denekamp’s resignation from Warrant & Finance upon his elevation to Selectman. The board voted to suspend the Warrant & Finance Request for Internal Information policy until after the first Warrant & Finance Committee meeting of the 2024–25 year to allow the newly constituted committee to organize.
On appointments, the board appointed Steve Perrault, Tracey Levasseur and Joseph Carter to the Cemetery Committee through June 30, 2025, and moved several appointments to the Mary Grant Committee (Richard Neal, Kelli Collins, Virgina Doboer, Dan Krampetz and Tammy Krampetz). Winchell moved to appoint Rick Smith as EMA Director until Sept. 1, 2024; the motion carried.
Administrative contracts approved included a new five-year Pitney Bowes lease for a smaller postage unit at $28.49 per month (down from $42/month on the prior lease) and a motion to reengage North Star for planning services (rates increased by $10/hour) based on a June 14, 2024 proposal.
The board also cast the Maine Municipal Association legislative ballot for Daniel Norwood (McGurty moved; Norwood abstained from the vote). After an executive session under M.R.S.A. 405(6)(A) for personnel, the board voted to hire 'Candidate A' as Animal Control Officer through Dec. 17, 2024. The minutes record the hire without providing the candidate's name.
