Village Administrator Joe Allen told the council Aug. 19 that he had drawings for a proposed walk-path extension at the park and options for flashing lights on the village's main road. He asked the council to meet as the Park Committee; the council set a Park Committee meeting for Monday, Aug. 26, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. to review the drawings and discuss lighting options.
Council also discussed payroll for the upcoming Halloween Festival. Councilmember Amber Murphy asked whether payroll approval was required; Tom Ramsay said employees "have always been paid" for the event and suggested paying those hours from the park fund. Alisha Burke said this is the first year the park budget includes payroll line items, and the council agreed to pay employees for festival hours out of the park fund.
Murphy reported that supplies and a DJ are being arranged and that a photo booth vendor had not yet responded; she asked whether members objected to a website poll to select a movie for the festival's movie night and none objected. The Park Committee meeting on Aug. 26 will allow the council and staff to review the path drawings and finalize festival logistics.
Next steps: Park Committee meeting Aug. 26 at 5:30 p.m.; festival planning to continue with supplies ordered and vendors being confirmed.
