Acton Select Board approves appointments, authorizes sale bids and accepts EMA director resignation

The Acton Select Board covered several administrative and procedural items at its Sept. 18 meeting, approving appointments, authorizing sale bids for surplus equipment, accepting a resignation, and recording public-record requests.
Appointments: Tom McGurty moved to appoint James Chadbourne to the Conservation Forest Committee through June 30, 2025; Ed Walsh seconded and the motion passed unanimously. McGurty then moved to appoint Wayne Michaud to the Cemetery Committee through June 30, 2025; Walsh seconded and that motion also passed.
Surplus equipment: The board voted to put the Fire Department’s older four-bottle cascade air system out to bid for sale after McGurty moved and Norwood seconded the motion. The board recorded unanimous approval.
Personnel: The board accepted the EMA Director’s resignation on a motion by Daniel Norwood, seconded by Tom McGurty, with a unanimous vote recorded in the minutes.
Public records: The Town Administrator reported two Freedom of Information Act requests. One, dated Sept. 5, sought information on an alleged fire on or around Aug. 23 at 328 East Shore Drive; the Fire Chief responded that there was no fire at that address on that day. A second request sought animal-complaint records for 284 Goose Pond Road.
Executive session and adjournment: The board entered an executive session under M.R.S.A. 405(6)(A)(1) for personnel matters at 6:23 p.m. and exited at 7:14 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
