Acton transfer station reports $151,861 in recycling and metal revenue; chipper work nearly complete

Robin Ham, head of the Transfer Station, updated the Select Board on operations and revenues at the Sept. 18 meeting. Ham reported that a chipper contractor arrived the previous day and has completed more than half of the work; staff expect the contractor to vacate the facility by Monday or Tuesday at the latest.
Ham also provided a revenue summary: recycling and metal receipts from July 1, 2020 through Sept. 5, 2024 totaled $151,861.65, which Ham said averages to about $1,000 per week. The board received the update; no formal motion or funding change was recorded in the minutes.
Select Board members asked questions and noted ongoing brush removal and related facility scheduling. The update will inform budgeting and operational planning for the Transfer Station going forward.
