Select Board opens skid steer and brush/chipping bids; decision deferred

The Town of Acton Select Board opened and reviewed bids for a replacement skid steer and for brush/chipping services at its Aug. 28 meeting, but did not award a contract.
Bids for the skid steer were recorded as follows in the minutes: MB Tractor $55,319; Jordan Equipment $60,709.20; United in Sanford $62,227.02; Ag First $63,242.48; Milton Tractor $64,095; Chadwick $70,000. A Chadwick representative present described the options included in their proposal. The Board said it would evaluate equipment type, warranties, and attachment add-on costs before deciding next week.
Two brush/chipping bids were opened: Hawk Tree Service $10,000 and Simpson $15,000. The minutes note that one bid detailed brush removal and the other did not; last year’s cost for similar work was $16,000. Liaison Ed Walsh said he will clarify bid details by phone and make a recommendation at the next meeting.
