The Otisfield Select Board heard from Fire Chief Jordan that Engine One is no longer in active service and has been stationed at Gore Road; Chairman Hal Ferguson directed the chief to classify the apparatus as out of service in accordance with MMA requirements.
Chief Jordan also reported that a previous opportunity to procure SCBA packs fell through, but he identified a vendor offering individual replacement bottles at $690 apiece, roughly half the price of other suppliers he reviewed. The board unanimously approved a motion allowing the chief to proceed with the purchase.
Board members said the purchase would help restore needed breathing-air equipment while the town evaluates vehicle status and compliance steps required for taking a unit out of service.
