Otisfield board backs Community Hall insulation, heat-pump upgrades under resilience grant

The Town of Otisfield Select Board on Feb. 18 agreed to move forward with energy-efficiency upgrades for the Community Hall under a Resilience Committee grant. Maureen Howard, a department head, described a plan that includes insulating the hall and installing heat pumps and hybrid hot water heaters; she will coordinate the work with Selectman Brendan Bedell.
Chairman Hal Ferguson said the hall’s insulation must be completed within the next fiscal year following a recent MMA inspection, framing the upgrade as both a compliance and energy-efficiency priority. Howard presented the initiatives as part of the committee’s grant-funded work; the board did not record a separate vote on the individual measures during the meeting but directed staff and Bedell to coordinate timing and implementation.
The measures are intended to increase the building’s energy efficiency and modernize heating systems. Town officials said the work will proceed under the Resilience Committee grant, and the board requested that project timelines and cost estimates be brought to a future meeting for review.
