Executive Director Meghan Jop reported that the governor had signed special legislation H4143, allowing assessors to resume processing pending senior property tax-deferral applications. She said residents would have about a week to submit applications given an April 1 filing deadline.
Assistant Executive Director Corey Testa clarified that the 2025 tax-year threshold maximum is $112,000, correcting an earlier figure of $109,000, and recommended either specifying the amount or tying the limit automatically to whatever maximum the Department of Revenue Commissioner sets to avoid annual revisions.
After discussing whether to retain three income levels (single, head of household, married filing jointly) or adopt a single maximum, the Board voted 5-0 to set the Senior Property Tax Deferral income limits at the level established by the Department of Revenue Commissioner.
