Trustees review procurement-policy updates and Darbyshire Drive no-parking draft, request public comment

At the April 7 meeting, Chair Kelli Arthur Hykes outlined proposed changes to the township's procurement policy intended to expand evaluation criteria beyond price and local purchasing. Hykes said the revisions would add consideration of organized labor, local business ownership and minority-, veteran- and women-owned business status, and that department heads would be asked to obtain two quotes with thresholds requiring additional quotes.

The trustees also reviewed the updated draft resolution addressing no-parking areas on Darbyshire Drive and Cameron Road. Administrator Jamie Fisher reported the draft adds language referencing Ohio Revised Code Section 4511.68, clarifies publication certificates (newspaper, state publication website, township website, and social media) and outlined next administrative steps. Hilliard City School District has filled the crossing-guard position; the Franklin County Engineer will separately study additional stop signs in Ridgewood.

Chair Hykes asked that the updated no-parking draft be posted to the township website and social media for public comment and to be sent directly to residents who had previously contacted the township on the issue. Trustee Barker expressed concern about court fees associated with the change; trustees did not take a final vote on the parking resolution at this meeting.
