Norwich Township to buy 2,500 America250 blankets and back community mural near fairgrounds

The Norwich Township Board of Trustees approved two community-support items at its April 7 meeting tied to America250 celebrations and local placemaking.
Administrator Jamie Fisher told trustees the township has coordinated with the City of Hilliard for six months on America250 planning and that the board had budgeted funds for half of an order of 2,500 fleece blankets. Trustees approved purchasing the blankets through the City of Hilliard for $7,517.00; Administrator Fisher said the blankets will be handed out at Freedom Fest on July 4, 2026, and invited trustees to participate in distribution.
Separately, the board approved providing a letter of support for the Franklin County Agricultural Society's America250 Community Mural at 5024 Northwest Parkway, a requirement for the Hilliard Public Arts Commission application. Administrator Fisher described a mural of eight panels highlighting regional agricultural heritage and the America250 commemoration; Trustee Trish Barker noted the mock-up shows seven panels rather than eight. Fisher said the project will be led by a professional artist with local ties and include volunteer assistance.
Both motions passed unanimously. Trustees said the mural location would enhance the Northwest Parkway corridor and the fairgrounds entrance and encouraged the Hilliard Public Arts Commission to approve the application.
