Peru Planning Board approves multiple permits, tasks staff over unpermitted construction

The Peru Planning Board on Aug. 13, 2024 approved a slate of routine building-permit requests and directed staff to address a reported instance of unpermitted construction at 150 East Shore Road.
The board approved the minutes of its June 13 meeting by voice vote after Warren MacFawn moved to accept them and Earle Wingate seconded. Board members then considered several site-specific permit applications and motions to approve each one.
Mary LaPointe presented a proposal to enlarge a porch on Map 8 Lot 23 from 8-by-8 feet to 14-by-10 feet; Wayne Putnam moved to approve and the motion carried. The board approved revisiting Map 14 Lot 29 following an internal plumbing permit approval after a motion by Warren MacFawn and a second by Tim Placey. Clint Bradbury’s request to add a propane storage tank on Map 15 Lot 24/24B was approved on a motion from Putnam with Placey seconding.
Other approvals included Brian Newell’s plan to rebuild and relocate two storage buildings (16x24 and 14x24) on Map 264 Lot 20, a 26x40 garage for Seth Haynes on Map 12 Lot 5IA, and a 16x28 garage addition with a roof-pitch change for Mary Lou Wing on Map 13 Lot 15A. Each item was moved, seconded and approved by the board.
Under new business, the board recorded a report of unpermitted construction at the Richards’ property, 150 East Shore Rd, and tasked staff member Deb Coudrain to send a letter to the Richards. Wayne Putnam moved to approve that direction and Tim Placey seconded; the motion carried.
The board also voted to change its regular meeting start time from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Tim Placey moved the change and Warren MacFawn seconded. The meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
