Thayne council approves updated Health and Safety Program and schedules code review; adds town property to insurance

Mayor Devin Simpson presented updates to the Town of Thayne Health and Safety Program required to secure workers’ compensation safety discounts, including adding a loss-prevention policy and clarifying the percentage of employee drug testing the town will complete. Councilman Heward asked whether one hour of training completed elsewhere would count toward the training requirement; Simpson confirmed it would. The council approved the updated Health and Safety Program (motion by Councilman Heward, seconded by Councilman Schwab).

Simpson also distributed a copy of Title 10 of the Thayne Town Code with changes and corrections and asked council members to review the section at home and bring suggested edits to the next month's meeting. Bob King advised including language addressing commercial dog breeding facilities in the code revision. Mayor Simpson introduced Nikole Passey as councilmember‑elect and set her oath of office for the January meeting.

Council approved a motion to add town-owned property and vehicles/equipment not already on the town policy to the Farm Bureau insurance policy (motion by Councilman Woolley, seconded by Councilman Heward). The council also handled routine motions to issue checks (to be ratified at the next meeting) and to pay bills before adjourning.
