Planning board approves new location for Uncle Sean’s food truck

The Phippsburg Planning Board unanimously approved an application from Sean Wooden to add a second location for his Uncle Sean’s Fish and Chips food truck at the Sportsman’s Association.

Wooden told the board he has operated at Herman Island for three years and planned to open at the Sportsman’s Association on Thursdays through Sundays for the summer and into the fall. "I'm Sean Wooden and I own Uncle Sean's fish and chips food truck," he said, describing plans for five 8‑foot picnic tables, a porta‑potty and use of the association's electricity and water.

Board members ran through the ordinance findings required under section 12 d 3 and related land‑use standards, asking whether the proposal would maintain safe conditions, avoid erosion or water pollution, and provide for disposal of "wet water." After discussing notice and abutter notification, Board member John Cochran Jr. moved to approve the application "as presented," a motion the board seconded and then passed. The chair recorded unanimous approval and stated the business will be treated as a new business in the applicable zone but must comply with section 9 l provisions cited in the packet.

The applicant thanked the town and said his first likely weekend would be in early June, depending on other commitments. The board did not add special conditions beyond the town regulations referenced at the hearing.

The planning board’s written file will include the application materials and the certified‑mail documentation submitted by the applicant. Next procedural step: permit processing and any necessary town licensing paperwork before the applicant may begin operations at the new location.
