Smyth County Planning Commission elects 2016 officers, sets meeting calendar

At its Jan. 28 organizational meeting the Smyth County Planning Commission elected Norman Sparks chair, Joel Pugh vice chair and Robbie Doyle secretary, and set regular meetings for the fourth Thursday of each month (with November and December exceptions).
Norman Sparks was elected chair of the Smyth County Planning Commission for 2016 at the board’s organizational meeting on Jan. 28; Joel Pugh was elected vice chairman and Robbie Doyle secretary. Clegg Williams served as temporary chairman to conduct the elections.
The commission adopted its 2016 operating procedures and approved the 2015 annual report. Commissioners voted to hold regular meetings on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m., with November’s meeting tentatively set for Nov. 17 and December’s for Dec. 15.
The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:00 p.m. and adjourned about 6:40 p.m.
