Kanosh signals deferral to Millard County for EMS/9‑1‑1 RFP, seeks ratification in July

A county official (S11) briefed the Kanosh council on recent state changes that require municipalities to have agreements covering EMS and 9‑1‑1 response. The official recommended that incorporated towns defer to Millard County to issue a single RFP on behalf of municipalities to streamline procurement and relicensure.
S11 reviewed the statutory background, citing 2021 House Bill 303 and the subsequent Senate Bill 215, and said the county is prepared to publish an RFP on behalf of the towns and to coordinate relicensing deadlines. "If the county puts out 1 RFP and all the towns defer to them, it can all just be 1 RFP," S11 said.
Councilors responded that they were comfortable deferring to the county and requested the county’s template letter and timing be emailed to staff. The council added the RFP deferral item to the July agenda for formal ratification.
No money was requested from the town in tonight’s discussion; the county official said a future ballot measure (a prepared‑food tax) could be considered if the council later sought local revenue for EMS support.
