The county attorney addressed the board about a compensation‑board recommendation to increase elected officials’ pay by 3% plus a flat $3,000. He said he would accept the 3% increase but asked that, if the commission approves the additional $3,000, that amount be waived for him and split evenly among five staff members (Hannah, Russell, Colton, Sam and Katrina).
"I'd like to wave off that additional $3,000 pay increase ... but I would ask that that $3,000 ... be split evenly between my staff," he said. Commissioners said they would verify whether they are bound by the compensation board's recommendation and noted the item is on the upcoming agenda for formal action.
No formal decision was made at the work session; commissioners asked staff to confirm statutory or procedural constraints before approving or modifying the compensation‑board recommendation.
