Select Board appoints committee members; announces Animal Control Officer selection
Summary
The Select Board appointed two Recreation Committee members and two Cemetery Committee members and announced Brandon Mee as Acton’s Animal Control Officer; the appointments were approved unanimously.
The Acton Select Board on July 2 approved new committee appointments and announced an animal control hire.
Daniel Norwood moved to appoint Cayla Bleakney and Ian Heller to the Recreation Committee through June 30, 2025; Edward Walsh seconded the motion and the board voted in favor. David Winchell Jr. moved to appoint Tim Allen and Suzanne Doyle to the Cemetery Committee through June 30, 2025; Norwood seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Separately, the board announced that Brandon Mee was selected to fill the town’s Animal Control Officer position. The board said Shapleigh, a neighboring town, selected a different candidate and that the two towns will remain separate but will cooperate and provide manuals and training to the new officer.
All committee appointments on the agenda were approved without recorded opposition. The Select Board did not provide compensation details or job-start dates for the Animal Control Officer appointment at the meeting.
