Acton board says books closed for FY2024; town operating under FY24–25 budget

The Acton Select Board on July 2 heard that the town’s fiscal year that ended June 30, 2024, has been closed and that officials have moved operations onto the FY24–25 budget.
The Town Administrator told the board that the Town Administrator’s office, the treasurer and Marc Roy had closed the books and that the new budget had been entered; he said staff made internal line adjustments consistent with approvals taken at Town Meeting. Detailed fiscal reports will be provided to the Select Board next week, and the town’s audit is scheduled to begin July 8, the liaison report said.
Select Board member Thomas McGurty praised the staff work in closing the year and asked the board to continue monitoring expenses going forward. The board unanimously approved routine minutes and procedural motions at the meeting.
The board also received the Sheriff’s June report, which the Town Administrator distributed for review. The Select Board did not take a budget vote at the meeting; it moved to operate under the FY24–25 budget that staff had entered after Town Meeting approvals.
Looking ahead, board members said they will receive fuller financial reports next week and that the audit, beginning July 8, will provide an additional check on fiscal year-end balances and reserves.
