Residents and service providers urge Mendota to consider leasing city land for La Granja program

Karina Beltran sought an update on the proposed lease, and Martha Puente said she has a child with special needs who would benefit from the program.
Aaron Olsen of the Central Valley Regional Center described the services CVRC provides and said the agency supports La Granja’s plans to serve local children. Augie Perez also recognized Jesus “Big D” Martinez and commended community contributions.
Council did not take formal action to authorize a lease during the meeting. Speakers asked staff to schedule a formal meeting to explore the proposal; no timeline or staff commitment was recorded in the minutes. Presentation and closed-session items unrelated to La Granja were also tabled to future meetings.
