Star Valley Ranch discusses personnel, water system steps and board reports; council recesses until evening

At the Town of Star Valley Ranch work session on Aug. 13, Town Administrator Aitken reported two personnel additions and several operational steps for the town’s water system, while board reports flagged a notable resignation and near‑term infrastructure work.

Town Administrator Aitken said the town has hired a new building official, Scott Cazier, and a new water operator, Quintin Simpson. Public Works Director Edwards will travel Friday to inspect a located water truck before purchase, and the town has begun a lead‑service‑line inventory as part of water‑system management.

Town Clerk Gray reviewed the town’s reserves and said the current financial packet on the website is temporary; an improved report will be published when completed. The Finance Board commended the council on budget handling but its chairman has resigned and no replacement had been chosen. The Water Board wants the town engineer to recheck water‑loss figures; the engineer recommended replacing flow meters before repeating the loss analysis, and the council requested Mr. Welling provide his PowerPoint from the special meeting on the 25th.

The Roads Board is restructuring, the Natural Resources Board reported $9,400 in proceeds from its annual garage sale, and the Travel & Tourism Board has not met. The council recessed the work session at 12:18 p.m. until 7 p.m.; the recess motion was made by Councilman Rok, seconded by Councilman Merrill and carried with 'all ayes.'

No formal purchase of the water truck or budget approvals were completed at the work session; the inspection and further reports were assigned as next steps.
