Planning Board approves mobile food truck permit for Sportsman’s Club site

At a Planning Board public hearing held during the Phippsburg Select Board meeting, applicant Sean Glidden described plans to relocate his mobile food operation ("Uncle Sean's Fish and Chips") to the Sportsman's Club/Herman Island area for Thursday–Sunday service during the season.
Glidden said he would provide seating — five 8‑foot picnic tables — and a porta‑potty, and that he would place the truck back from the public area and add screening if needed. "I own Uncle Sean's Fish and Chips ... I've set up down at Herman Island for the past three years," Glidden told the board.
The Planning Board reviewed required findings under section 12(d)(3) of the town's land‑use ordinance (public health/safety, erosion and water protection, disposal of wastewater, impacts to wildlife and historic resources, and conformity with land‑use standards) and members agreed the application met the standards. The board voted to approve the application unanimously. The minutes recorded an advertising/filing fee and an additional small charge referenced during the vote.
The applicant said he expected to begin service in mid‑ to late June, depending on schedule and permitting. The board noted that the operation must comply with the town's section 9(l)(1)(a) standard and other applicable conditions. The approval was recorded as unanimous and the applicant thanked the board for the opportunity.
