Chairman Chris Bagley called the Veazie Town Council meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
The council unanimously approved the Nov. 17, 2025 meeting minutes after Councilor Jeff Manter moved “to approve the November 17, 2025, Council Meeting Minutes as presented,” a motion seconded by Councilor Aaron Turcotte and recorded 4‑0‑0. The approval was noted as part of routine business; the December 8, 2025 minutes (Item 5B) were formally tabled until the next meeting.
Town Manager Mark Leonard reviewed the first‑ and second‑quarter fiscal report for FY 2025–26 and answered council questions. Leonard also reviewed his manager’s report later in the meeting; the minutes record the review but do not detail specific line items discussed.
Councilor Karen Walker presented the Veazie Fire Department with a handmade portrait of former Fire Chief Harry E. Smith, donated by Smith’s great‑great‑grandson. Walker noted Smith served as Veazie’s fire chief from 1929–1942 and again in 1944.
The council circulated and signed municipal warrants, including Town AP Warrant #14, #15 and #16; Town Payroll #13, #14 and #15; School AP Warrant #8; and School Payroll #13 and #14.
On a motion by Councilor Aaron Turcotte, seconded by Councilor Jeff Manter, the council voted 4‑0‑0 to enter an executive session under 1 M.R.S.A. §405(6)(C) “to discuss the acquisition of real property or economic development.” The public minutes record that no discussion was transcribed while in executive session. After the closed meeting, Councilor Jeff Manter moved, and Councilor Karen Walker seconded, to come out of executive session; that motion also passed 4‑0‑0.
With no further public business, Councilor Karen Walker moved to adjourn, Councilor Aaron Turcotte seconded, and the council voted 4‑0‑0 to adjourn at 7:03 p.m. Councilor Messer was recorded as absent and excused for the meeting.
