Committee hears updates on field trips, bus maintenance and first reading of policy revisions

Lead Teacher report: The Lead Teacher described a recent Teaching and Learning Collaborative (TLC) trip to Farmington with Outer Islands partners and University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) education students. Most students attended; teachers added activities on travel days, and families and students enjoyed campus dining and recreation. The Lead Teacher said the trip was a positive experience but that coordinating travel and logistics required substantial staff time; the committee agreed to revisit spring trip plans and the TLC partnership during late winter or early spring ahead of the budget process.
Superintendent report: Superintendent Aaron Townsend said the new bus was serviced, had safety signage added and a previously purchased camera installed. He reported the bus did not pass its annual inspection and the inspection will be rescheduled for the next available date.
Policy first read: The superintendent provided an overview of proposed revisions to policy Books C and D and answered a few committee questions. No amendments were proposed at this meeting; the committee will consider a second discussion and vote at a future meeting.
The meeting concluded with routine warrant presentation and scheduling of the next regular meeting for Dec. 2, 2025. The meeting adjourned at 7:22 p.m.
