The Board approved a repair proposal on June 15 to protect a sewer main exposed by bank erosion along Crooked Creek near 1287 Old State Road 62.
Superintendent of Utilities Brian reported the sewer remains operational but erosion threatens undermining. City staff obtained a proposal from Sedan Contracting for roughly 100 linear feet of reinforced concrete retaining wall with an estimated cost of $49,500. Because the work occurs within and adjacent to the creek, staff contacted the Indiana Department of Natural Resources; DNR staff told the city the work does not require a DNR permit but does require a local permit, which staff will pursue.
The board approved moving forward with the repair, and staff said they will meet with the contractor to refine the estimate and plan before work begins.
