Parks & Rec seeks 50% water-rate for new Mary L. Cook Park and library partnership language

During the Parks & Recreation report, committee members said plans for the proposed Mary L. Cook Park looked favorable with only a recommended widening of the sidewalk around the children’s playground. Mary L. Cook requested legislation to allow the new park to receive water service at a 50% rate, the same discount applied to Bicentennial Park, and asked that the enabling ordinance express a partnership with the library to support future grant applications.
Mr. Chris Colvin later asked Law Director Jeff Forbes to draft legislation reflecting the committee’s request so the council can consider it at a future meeting. The committee also noted a MOMS meeting request from Chris Hice and said it will schedule the meeting soon.
No vote was taken on the rate change at the Jan. 21 meeting; council directed staff to prepare draft legislation and plans for further consideration.
