Council briefed on ODOT traffic-signal project; bids scheduled and village share estimated

Gary Copeland, village manager and director of public safety, reported that the final resolution with the Ohio Department of Transportation is complete for a traffic signal at Corwin Avenue and Route 42. He said ODOT will release bid packets on Feb. 27 and bids will be due March 10.
Copeland told Council the Village’s portion of the project is estimated at $266,000 but cautioned that the final Village share could rise if bids come in higher. He said the Village could use the Highway Fund to pay its portion because the crossing is on a state route.
Copeland also reported that Franklin Phase II is scheduled to begin on Jan. 27 and that public-works staff will meet Feb. 3 to continue project planning.
No formal funding vote was taken at the Jan. 21 meeting; Copeland asked Council to note the schedule and be prepared to consider legislation if bids require an increased Village contribution.
