County representatives said LPR image data are retained for up to one year and can be queried by sheriff's investigators for criminal investigations or pursuant to a warrant in other cases; they said the sheriff would not partner with ICE to use the data for administrative immigration enforcement. The sheriff's office emphasized that queries are performed by sheriff personnel and are not FOIL‑accessible.
Board members and staff raised questions about data access, retention, FOIL and potential future administrations; several requested written agreement language clarifying data custody and removal procedures if county policy or administration changes. After discussion the board adopted a motion to table Resolution 11‑236/2026 until the town has an opportunity to meet with county/sheriff representatives at a future workshop and receive a proposed intermunicipal agreement and technical details. The motion to table carried by roll call.
