The Waterloo Local School Board on Jan. 9 adopted its organizational meeting agenda and elected Brian Terry as board president and Patty as vice president.
Nominations for president produced a single nominee for Brian; the board closed nominations and, by roll-call vote, elected Brian Terry to lead the board for the coming year. The board then nominated and appointed Patty to the vice-presidency following a motion to close nominations and a roll-call vote.
During the organizational portion of the meeting, members approved routine governance items required each year: authorization for the superintendent to make purchases within adopted appropriations; creation of an "a service" fund to cover board expenses under Section 3315.5 of the Ohio code; standing delegations for the treasurer (including accepting donations, investing funds, paying bills, and signing contracts) and retention of primary and specialty legal counsel. The board also approved membership in the Ohio School Boards Association and designated a legislative liaison and delegates for OSBA events.
All organizational motions were approved by roll-call votes. The board adjourned the organizational portion and reconvened for the district’s regular Jan. 9 meeting.
