Enon approves $2,500 donation for VFW fireworks; staff report updates and safety reminders announced

The Village of Enon Council on May 28 approved a $2,500 donation to VFW Post 8437 to support an Independence Day fireworks celebration. Russell Graham, representing VFW Post 8437, thanked the council for Memorial Day assistance and asked whether the village would again provide a donation; Council member Whitacre moved the donation and Council President Rick Hanna seconded the motion, which passed on a roll-call vote.
During staff reports, Administrator Kevin Siferd said the wastewater line project is in its second week, and he told the council that water in the ceiling over the council chamber resulted from an air-conditioning drain pan overflow (not a roof leak), which Hauck Heating and Cooling repaired. Siferd also reported that Olivia Young has begun an Eagle Scout project at the park, new flag poles have been ordered and that the village will haul away dirt at the site; Green Vista storm-sewer project quotes have been received and are under review.
Police Chief Michael Holler reminded residents that the Click-It-or-Ticket seat-belt campaign runs May 20–June 2 and that National Night Out at Enon Park is scheduled for Aug. 6, 2024; he also warned that hanging signs on utility poles is prohibited and that illegally placed signs will be removed.
Mayor Howard requested and the council voted to enter executive session to discuss hiring, firing, discipline, or compensation of personnel; the executive session began at 6:32 p.m., regular business resumed at 7:06 p.m., and the meeting adjourned at 7:06 p.m. The council gave no further public details about the personnel discussion.
