Valley View council approves claims, grants and contracts; OKs $56,550 vegetation-clearing contract

The Village of Valley View Council approved several routine financial and contract items at its March 3 meeting, including payment of monthly claims, appropriation measures, grant acceptance and a contract for vegetation clearing ahead of Canal Road repairs.
Council suspended the rules and placed Ordinance 2026-3-1 (payment of February claims) on third reading and passed it by roll call vote (aye 5 / nay 0). The council also approved Resolution 2026-3-2, an MOU for the 2026–2030 PIPE Program with the Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District; Mayor Matt March said the expense will be reimbursable to the Village.
Council accepted a NOPEC energized community grant via Ordinance 2026-3-3, and passed an emergency appropriation ordinance for 2026 (Ordinance 2026-3-4) and an ordinance to close certain capital project funds and transfer balances to fund 403 (Ordinance 2026-3-5). Each measure passed unanimously with roll calls recorded as aye 5 / nay 0.
On project contracting, Finance Chair Spieth moved (seconded by Jakubczak) to authorize Village Engineer Sciano to contract VanCuren Services for tree removal and vegetation clearing in preparation for Canal Road repair and resurfacing at a cost of $56,550.00; the council approved the contract and Engineer Sciano said the work will be completed by March 31.
The council reviewed grass-cutting bids and voted to accept contractor Semper Fi for zone A and Kings Court Landscaping for zones B and C for 2026 and 2027; the mayor said formal legislation will follow to finalize the contracts.
Clerk-Treasurer Snyder presented the February cash report. The meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
