Valley View council approves several ordinances, bridge change order and a mobility grant

The Village of Valley View council at its May 5 meeting approved a set of ordinances and a transportation grant application and accepted a bridge-project change order.

Council passed Ordinance 2026-5-1 to pay certain claims for April 2026 and Ordinance 2026-5-3 amending section 1462.03 ('enclosures') of the codified ordinances; both ordinances were adopted after suspension of the rules on unanimous 4-0 roll calls.

The council also approved Ordinance 2026-5-5 accepting a bid for pavement reconstruction on North and South Partridge Drive in the Strathmore Subdivision (phases 6 & 7) and declared the ordinance an emergency. Mayor Matt March introduced these measures; the final passage votes were recorded as unanimous 4-0.

By resolution (2026-5-4) the council authorized application for the 2027 Section 5310 enhanced mobility program for seniors and individuals with disabilities; the resolution passed 4-0 after suspension of the rules.

Finance chair Spieth moved and council approved a change order for the Exchange Street Bridge demolition project totalling $13,430.24 (guardrail installation $2,540.24; hydrovac for posts $7,500.00; mobilization and maintenance of traffic $3,390.00); the motion passed on a 4-0 roll call. Engineer Sciano described the work as an upgrade to the north side of the village.

Other routine business included acceptance of the Clerk-Treasurer’s April cash report and multiple committee reports, many of which were recorded as 'nothing to report.'
