Planning Board hears Cleveland Metroparks update on Sagamore Connector Trail

The Village of Valley View Planning Board received an informational update from Cleveland Metroparks on the Sagamore Connector Trail, which will run just south of Sagamore Road and include a permanent pedestrian crossing near a temporary bridge installed earlier this year.
Mayor Matthew March said the village may coordinate design, landscaping and materials so new pedestrian bridges on Tinkers Creek Road and Stone Road have a cohesive appearance with the Sagamore Connector Trail. Secretary Marty Johnston asked about village responsibility for the Tinkers Creek and Stone Road bridges; Mayor March said the County initially offered the bridges to the village as-is but the village declined, so the County is demolishing them and leaving open space for new village-built bridges.
The board discussed whether the National Park could cost-share replacement bridges; Mayor March said discussions have taken place but no agreement has been reached. Engineer Todd Sciano noted a portion of the property involved is National Park land located in Valley View.
No formal action or vote was required or taken on the trail update; the presentation was recorded as informational and the board moved on to other business.
