Cushing Selectboard approves foreclosures contract, establishes park advisory committee and allocates $3,000 for fire-department storage

CUSHING — The Cushing Selectboard on Nov. 25 approved several administrative actions, including a contract related to four foreclosed properties, the creation of a park advisory committee and a $3,000 allocation for fire-department storage.
At the start of the meeting Chair Craig Currie moved and Tracey Bally seconded approval of 2024 Warrants #47 and #48; the motion carried unanimously. The board then approved the Nov. 12 minutes on a motion by Cheryl Stackpole, seconded by Michael James; that vote was recorded 3-0-0 because Currie was absent from the Nov. 12 meeting.
The board authorized entry into a contract with Cates Realty concerning four foreclosures after a motion by Currie, seconded by Michael James; the motion carried 4-0-0. The board also voted to establish the Good Neighbor Park as an advisory committee, effective that day, after a motion by Currie and a second from Cheryl Stackpole; that measure passed unanimously.
In a budget-related action, Currie moved and Michael James seconded a motion to use $3,000 of the $11,500 proceeds from the sale of the town’s food pantry to purchase a storage container for the Fire Department; the board approved the expenditure 4-0-0. The minutes record the funding source and the allocation amount but do not specify procurement details or vendor for the container.
The board approved routine administrative items earlier on the agenda, including authorization for Currie to sign state grant paperwork and a heat-pump contract (motion by Cheryl Stackpole, seconded by Tracey Bally), and approved library use of the Cushing Community Room for the library’s children’s Christmas party on Dec. 8, 2024 (10 a.m.–1 p.m.). Resident Karl Crute asked the board to take responsibility for Freeman Cemetery (off Woody Lane); the board agreed to add that proposal as an article for the 2025 annual town meeting.
The board set the town election for March 17, 2025 and the open town meeting for March 18, 2025 at 6 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 6:39 p.m. and minutes were submitted by Recording Secretary Danika Poland.
