The Cushing Selectboard discussed next steps for the town transfer station and a potential move to Thomaston.
Selectboard members said Thomaston has a meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 27, and invited the Cushing selectboard to attend. Cheryl Stackpole said she will contact Ben Lash with guidance and questions for that meeting. Members noted that any decision to move transfer operations would require approval by Cushing voters in November and, if approved, could not take effect until spring 2025 at the earliest.
No formal motion or vote occurred on June 24; the board framed the item as a discussion and planning step pending further information and a public vote. Selectboard members emphasized that additional details and public engagement will be necessary before any binding decision.
