Councilmember Shawn Murphy asked the City Council on April 20 to review the current zoning in downtown Sylvania and said an older proposal will be brought back to the Zoning Committee for further consideration.
Murphy said the Law Director will circulate the latest revisions from May 2025 to members of Council for review tomorrow. Council agreed that a Zoning Committee meeting will be scheduled at the next Council meeting to consider the revisions and discuss next steps.
No ordinance vote or formal amendment was taken on the floor at this meeting; the action was procedural: the Council added the Downtown Zoning Code Update to the agenda and directed staff to provide the prior draft for members to review. The Council noted that the Zoning Committee will set a meeting date at the next regular Council meeting for continued discussion.
Next steps: Council will review the May 2025 revisions when circulated by the Law Director and the Zoning Committee will convene to consider any updates to the downtown zoning code.
