Planning board approves AVTRON loading-door changes and drive-in ramp at Allen Drive site

Representatives from AVTRON and HSB Architects told the Village of Valley View Planning Board on March 3 that they plan to replace six existing overhead doors at truck docks with two larger overhead doors and to construct a drive-in ramp to allow trucks to back into the building. The board approved a variance permitting off-street loading in front of the building and then approved the exterior alterations.

Jordy Ortiz of AVTRON and Lauren Fedor of HSB Architects described the changes as intended to improve loading operations in inclement weather and to increase operational efficiency. Board members focused their questions on aesthetics and site upkeep; no objections were raised about operational need.

The board approved the variance from Ordinance Section 1254.07 allowing off-street loading facilities in front of the building. Member Joseph White moved the variance, Member Mike Bertovich seconded, and the motion passed on roll call. The board then voted to approve the exterior alterations overall; that motion also passed unanimously.

The approvals allow AVTRON to proceed with the door replacements and ramp construction, subject to any required building permits and inspections. The applicant said the changes will allow safer and more weather-protected truck loading. The board did not list additional design conditions beyond general expectations that exterior work be well maintained and consistent with surrounding properties.

The matter concluded at the meeting; permits and building-department approvals remain the next steps before construction begins.
