The Cranberry Isles Select Board on April 7 directed town staff to pursue options for the Joy Lot property, including sending a draft letter to Chelsea Holdings LLC about a possible purchase or lease extension. James Fortune, the town administrative assistant, presented an appraisal of the Joy Lot and a draft letter; January Bennett agreed to assist Fortune with further drafts and follow-up.
Select Board Chair Katelyn Damon also directed staff to purchase four speed limit signs for each island and two parking-lot time-limit signs to address traffic and parking management; the directive passed without dissent. Damon proposed, and the board approved, asking the Harbor Committee to discuss the configuration of the Great Cranberry Island town-dock ramp so the committee can recommend any changes.
The board did not take any formal vote to buy the property; rather, members authorized staff to pursue communications and planning steps. No timeline for a final purchase or lease decision was specified at the meeting.
