Parks update: Foote Park playground nearing completion; splash pad and summer events scheduled

Branford Parks staff reported near-completion of Foote Park playground ramps and a planned soft opening, the Splash Pad opened Memorial Day week and will run through Labor Day, and the department previewed the Summer Jazz concert series, Branford Festival support and the June 27 fireworks display.
At the June 10 Branford Board of Recreation meeting, Director Dale Izzo delivered routine department updates on projects and summer programming.
Izzo said staff are closing purchase orders and invoices for the current fiscal year and that the Foote Park Playground project is nearly complete. He said pour-in-place transition ramps are scheduled to be installed tomorrow and a soft opening is planned for next week.
Izzo also reported the Splash Pad opened over Memorial Day week and will be open through at least Labor Day. Hospice pool passes are on sale, with about 140 memberships at the time of the report, and the pool is scheduled to open at the end of the month.
The department confirmed the Summer Jazz concert series begins June 25 and acknowledged the presenting sponsor, Bob Alvine and Premier Auto Group. Izzo noted that the Branford Festival setup is already under way and that the town fireworks display is scheduled for June 27 from Branford Point. He provided a general overview of parks around town and answered board questions about facility readiness.
Assistant Director Nally Sahin added program-level updates, including progress on disc golf planning and upcoming camp staff training.
