Sylvania Council approves series of emergency ordinances for engineering work, right-of-way payments and municipal building improvements

Council approved multiple emergency ordinances and one resolution on April 6 that fund right-of-way payments, engineering services and municipal building improvements.
Marcus Hansen presented ordinances authorizing payments to the Lucas County Engineer for right-of-way assessments tied to the Ten Mile Creek/Ottawa River Watershed Petition #1053: Ordinance No. 63-2026 for $41,798.06 and Ordinance No. 64-2026 for $126,249.58. Hansen also presented Ordinance No. 65-2026 accepting Fishbeck's proposal for professional engineering services for the Monroe Street Waterline Improvements Project, appropriating $67,700; the measure passed as an emergency.
Patrick Richardson presented and Council adopted Ordinance No. 66-2026 (purchase agreement and temporary construction easement with Sylvania United Church of Christ for the Erie & Monroe Roundabout Project, $52,907) and Ordinance No. 67-2026 (purchase agreement with Julie A. Watkins, $300). Richardson also presented a second amendment to DGL Consulting Engineers' contract (Ordinance No. 68-2026, funds not to exceed $25,002) and accepted Tetra Tech’s proposal for the Main Street & Convent Boulevard Roundabout Project (Ordinance No. 69-2026, $387,700); all passed as emergency measures.
Ms. Stough presented three ordinances for the Craig A. Stough Municipal Building Office Improvements Project: Ordinance No. 70-2026 (Friends Office — office furniture, $86,608.52), Ordinance No. 71-2026 (Reemsnyder Decorating — carpet, $8,484.37) and Ordinance No. 72-2026 (Erard Custom Painting — labor and materials, $1,475). The council adopted each ordinance by roll call.
Council also adopted Resolution No. 3-2026 consenting to the resurfacing by the Ohio Department of Transportation of a portion of US-23 in Lucas County from I-475 to the Michigan state line. The council confirmed Claudia Witkowski as Clerk of Council after Laura Smith took on Human Resources and Communications Manager responsibilities.
