The Worcester subcommittee backed requests to improve wayfinding and parking signage for Green Island neighborhood amenities. Maureen Schwab, representing the Green Island Residence Group, asked the committee to install visitor-parking signage with an arrow at the Canton Street entrance to the Crompton Park lot and to add directional signage to the Green Island Neighborhood Center, which she said can be difficult to find (the building is listed as 50 Canton Street).
Schwab estimated the lot has about 20 to 30 spaces and said clearer signage would reduce permit-parking violations on Canton Street. Commissioner Antonelli said staff would evaluate signage options and look for appropriate parking alternatives, noting that staff and lifeguards currently use portions of the lot and that Quincy Avenue cutouts provide additional spaces.
Clerk AJ Pottle recommended a chairman's order directing the commissioner to conduct the signage review and install signs as needed, with a secondary motion to place the item on file; the committee approved that approach by roll call (Bellata, Rivera and Chair Frasola voting yes). Antonelli said he and staff will work with other commissioners and partners to finalize signage and building identification.
