Plain City Council reviews five goals for 2026; comprehensive plan consultant to present Jan. 12

Administrator Haley Lupton reviewed a Council goals and objectives letter included in the Jan. 7 meeting packet that lists five primary objectives for 2026: increasing village-wide connectivity; improving and expanding public spaces; smart, diligent planning around Village growth; increasing resident safety and satisfaction; and continued development of organizational professionalism.
Lupton said MKSK Studios, the comprehensive plan consultant, will present an update at the January 12 meeting and recommended Council wait to update any objectives until after that presentation. Councilmember Michael Terry said he believed the five objectives remain pertinent and supported evaluating goals after the consultant's presentation; Council agreed by unanimous consent.
Terry and Councilmember Tyler Harriman discussed hosting a Council retreat in the near future to informally review projects, goals and leadership training; Terry noted such retreats remain public meetings subject to public-record and Sunshine Law requirements and typically occur on a Saturday for a longer, more informal session. Councilmember Toni Arnold asked about the retreat's purpose and thanked colleagues for the information.
Council did not adopt additional objectives at the Jan. 7 work session; staff said they will bring the comprehensive plan update on Jan. 12 and Council can revisit goals and objectives at that time.
