Pennridge commission approves townships' invoices to cover heating maintenance and pension shortfall

The Pennridge Regional Police Commission voted Sept. 24 to pass two motions addressing maintenance costs and a budget shortfall tied to the 2025 police pension MMO and state aid estimates.
Chief Paul T. Dickinson Jr. told commissioners the estimated state aid for 2025 was about $56,593.26 less than budgeted and that the overall budget was underfunded by $73,070. To address immediate maintenance costs, the commission authorized Chief Dickinson, on a motion by Commissioner Hal Schirmer seconded by Commissioner Jay Keyser, to invoice each township $10,965 to split $21,930 in heating and cooling system maintenance expenses; all present voted in favor.
Separately, on a motion by Commissioner Jay Keyser seconded by Commissioner Hal Schirmer, the commission agreed to split the $73,070 underfunding 46%/54%, authorizing invoices of $33,612.20 to East Rockhill and $39,457.80 to West Rockhill to meet 2025 budgetary expenses. That motion also passed unanimously.
Both actions were recorded as measures to ensure the department’s 2025 financial obligations can be met; commissioners did not tie those motions to any staffing changes. The meeting then adjourned into executive session to discuss personnel.
