Plain City Council names Harriman council president, confirms multiple mayoral appointments

Mayor Jody Carney opened the Plain City Council work session on Jan. 7, 2026, and swore in newly elected Councilmember Toni Arnold and reelected Councilmembers Jim Eudaily and Michael Terry.
At the start of reorganization business, Councilmember Michael Terry nominated Tyler Harriman to serve as Council President; Harriman accepted and the motion to appoint him passed by unanimous vote. Appointments approved included Toni Arnold to the Board of Zoning Appeals; Michael Terry to the Parks and Recreation Committee; Aaron Lewis to the Personnel and Finance/CIP Committee; Jamey Sintz as the Village's representative to the Plain View Joint Fire District (PVJFD) Fire Board (Council discussed naming an alternate representative at a later meeting); Tyler Harriman to the Economic Development Committee; and Jim Eudaily to the Plain City Area Development Corporation. The Mayor also appointed Justin Dreier, the Clerk of Council, to serve as the Village's representative on the Union County Chamber of Commerce Board. Each appointment was approved by motion and unanimous consent as recorded in the work session minutes.
Council tabled the decision on appointing a representative to the US-33/SR-161 Corridor Group to allow further discussion about councilmember scheduling and availability.
