Versailles council adopts annexation, approves budget amendment, appoints custodial staff and OKs $219,766 street sweeper

Versailles Village Council on Oct. 23 adopted Resolution No. 24‑47 to annex a roughly 6.467‑acre tract owned by Preston Platfoot and declared the measure an emergency to allow immediate second and third readings and adoption.

The council approved a Personnel & Policies Committee recommendation to appoint Lexi Moorman to provide custodial services in‑house in addition to her duties as Utilities Account Clerk, with the change and a revision to the Hourly Employees Compensation Table to take effect in the first pay period of 2025. Council likewise approved a revised on‑call compensation plan for utility and street personnel that replaces a flat $20/day rate with a formula tied to the employee’s hourly rate; the change is intended to keep on‑call pay aligned with employee pay steps.
On other formal actions, council voted to authorize the Village Administrator to enter into a contract and close on the purchase of land for municipal use. The council also authorized purchase of a replacement Tymco street sweeper (a 2025 demo unit) from Best Equipment for $219,766, below the $232,000 budgeted amount, with plans to sell the 2007 model once the new unit is in service.
