Versailles council approves bank designation, truck purchase, waterline change order and EMS compensation credit

On Sept. 25 the Versailles Village Council designated Greenville National Bank as public depository for active monies (2025–2029), approved a truck purchase and service body, authorized a rate schedule change for King’s Command Foods, approved Change Order #1 for the North Central Waterline project (+$35,450), and approved a $400 compensation credit for EMS employee Ken Livingston.
The Versailles Village Council on Sept. 25 approved a slate of administrative and capital actions. The Finance & Audit Committee recommended Greenville National Bank as the public depository for active monies (checking account) for 2025–2029 after bids from Park National Bank and Greenville National Bank; council approved the designation on a motion by Mr. Steinbrunner.
Council authorized the Village Administrator to change the electric service rate schedule for an existing service at King’s Command Foods from Commercial Demand (Low Load Factor) “CDLS” to Large Power Service “LP,” effective with the utility bill due Nov. 10, 2024; the motion was approved unanimously.
To replace a 2012 Ford F-250 used by the Electric Foreman, staff presented truck quotes within the village’s 2024 CIP budgeted $60,000. Quotes for the pickup ranged from $43,418 to $49,985; service-body quotes ranged from $16,085 to $21,700. The administrator recommended purchasing a 2024 Dodge 2500 from Gaier’s and installing a service body from Knapheide; council approved the purchase on a motion by Mr. Griesdorn.
Council also approved Change Order #1 for the North Central Waterline Improvement Project, increasing Shinn Bros., Inc.’s contract by $35,450 to cover additional asphalt concrete; Ms. Shaffer moved to approve the change order and the motion carried unanimously.
After an executive session, Mayor Dammeyer reported results of an EMS payroll audit showing employee Ken Livingston provided two continuing education units (CEUs) that were not compensated. Council retroactively approved a $200 credit for the two CEUs and an additional $200 for his role as CE Site Coordinator; the total $400 credit will be applied toward the balance Livingston owes the Village.
Village Administrator Francis told council that Choice One Engineering will perform a traffic study for the village in October. Administrator Francis also outlined operational updates including reopening of the N. West St. railroad crossing, ongoing restoration on the North Central waterline project, completion of a clarifier bearing replacement at the water plant, planned power outage Sept. 29 for linemen to reconnect power leads, removal of old poles related to a circuit rebuild, tree replacements in the downtown streetscape (34 trees identified; A. Brown & Sons Nursery quoted $6,120 for 2" caliper replacements), and continuing wellfield monitoring at the Reed Road wellfield by Eagon & Associates.
Fiscal Officer Kathy Ording provided the August fund report and stated EMS grant money was awarded for training equipment. With no further business, council adjourned at 8:19 p.m.
