Recreation superintendent previews village holiday events, tree lighting and new vendor boutique

Jason Tinto, superintendent of recreation for the Village of Mamaroneck, told the Board of Trustees on Nov. 25 that the village will hold several holiday events beginning in early December. “This year, we have the Candy Cane Run…where residents can meet Santa in six of our parks starting at 10 a.m.,” Tinto said, listing Warren Avenue Park, Jefferson, Columbus Park, Florence, Stanley and The Harbor on a schedule of half-hour intervals.
Tinto said the village will hold a holiday tree lighting and a Santa experience in the harbor on Dec. 7 and Dec. 8, with the tree lighting scheduled for about 6 p.m. on Dec. 7. He described a new holiday boutique with 25 local vendors — artisans, bakers and craftspeople — intended to highlight local businesses and provide unique gift options.
The recreation department will also run an ornament-decorating program: families can register online and staff will deliver ornaments and supplies for at-home decorating; completed ornaments will be hung on the village tree. Flyers for all events are posted on the village website and available in print, and residents were invited to call or email the recreation office with questions.
The board thanked Tinto and noted that additional information, including a menorah lighting planned by a local synagogue, will be shared when finalized.
