The Town Board voted Dec. 4 to approve a certiorari settlement concerning 9 Roosevelt Ave in the Village of Larchmont that would set the property’s assessed value at $900,000 for the tax years 2019–2021.
Town counsel (Mr. Maker) explained the petitioner’s appraisal had estimated values between roughly $700,000 and $800,000 based on the home’s condition at the time, and that the proposed settlement was negotiated with the school district attorney to resolve the challenge. The attorney told the board the proposed settlement would change the assessments for the three years in question to $900,000 and would require refunds to taxing entities; the precise refund amounts were recorded in the board packet and discussed in the memo presented at the meeting.
The board moved to accept the settlement and approved it by roll call. Counsel noted that the village has not yet considered the proposal in its separate certiorari proceedings.
Implementation: staff will process assessment changes and refunds in accordance with the settlement and applicable statutes.
Note on amounts: the transcript includes refund figures in the supporting memo; the board accepted the settlement as presented and authorized staff action to implement the change.
